Writing and Submitting Your COVID-19 Experiences

Task: Use a ‘Book and Quill’ to write about your COVID-19 experiences

Downloadable Map / Private World participants

  • If you’re playing on our downloadable map version of the Archiverse, or your own private world, craft or select a ‘book and quill’ from your creative inventory to document your COVID-19 experiences.
  • To send us your contributions for the Archives, take screenshots of your book’s pages and email them to archives.service@eastriding.gov.uk

Server participants (please note that the server is now closed)

  • In the Archiverse, collect your ‘book and quill’ from the Archives research room to get started with writing your COVID-19 experiences.
  • Explore the Treasure House building and speak to the characters to gain ideas.
  • Deposit your completed book into the archives chest located in the entrance foyer. This chest is linked to a hopper system and sends your book to a secret room beneath the Treasure House. If you accidentally deposit your unfinished book into the chest, let Archivist Hannah know by sending her an email.
  • Once your finished book is in the chest, your book will be collected by Archivist Hannah and added to our real-world digital archives, and also exhibited in the Archiverse Book Exhibition zone.

Building and Submitting Your COVID-19 Experiences

Task: Build an object, person or scene that represents your COVID-19 experience.

Downloadable Map / Private World participants

If you’re playing on our downloadable map version of the Archiverse, or your own private world, take screenshots of your built creation and email them to archives.service@eastriding.gov.uk

Server participants (please note that the server is now closed)

  • In the Archiverse, head to the Build Zone located behind the Treasure House.
  • As you enter the Build Zone, your game mode will switch from Adventure to Creative mode. You can now build within the boundaries of the Build Zone.
  • Have a go at building an item, object or person that represents your lockdown or pandemic experience.
  • To mark your build as complete, add a sign post containing your name or Minecraft name. If you wish, add additional sign posts including information about your model eg. a title, reasons for building this creation.
  • Once your build is marked as complete, Archivist Hannah will then transfer your build to the Exhibition Zone (next to the Build Zone) which will prevent your creation from being modified.
